Full points for Malaysia, Korea
Malaysia defeated Laos 4-1 to collect full points in a Group F match of the AFC U-19 2012 Qualifying Tournament at the Thong Nhat Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City on Wednesday (2/11/11).
Defending champion, Korea DPR also collected full points when they defeated Myanmar 2-1.
Vietnam is hosting the Group F Qualifying tournament which is participated by Malaysia, Laos, Myanmar and defending champion, DPR Korea.
The top two teams from six qualifying groups will qualify for the finals rounds in November 2012 while another two top thrid place teams – on from West Asia and another from East Asia - will also go through. The venue of the finals will be decided later.
Laos caused a scare when they took the leade through Soliya Syphasay in the 19 minit but a brace by Muhammad Akmal Ishak qualised in the 31st minute and added his secon goal midway in second half.
In the last 15 minutes, Laos began to play aggresively and this resulted in Malaysia getting scoring two more goals through two penalties. Malaysia’s next match is against DPR Korea on Sunday.
“We ere not focussed in the first half. Maybe the slippery pitch caused the players to be extra careful. Anyway I am pleased with the result,” said Chief Coach, Ismail Ibrahim.
