First win for Prak

PHNOM PENH (7 March 2013) – After two losses in their last two friendly matches, Cambodia – under newly re-appointed chief coach Prak Sovannara – finally picked up their first win when they beat the Malaysian Under-23 squad 3-1 in a friendly that was played at the National Olympic Stadium last night.

The defeat for the Malaysian youngsters was their first after holding Myanmar to a scoreless draw in their first friendly in Yangon and then a 3-3 deadlock against Laos in Vientiane.

Goalkeeper Imran Mohamed made a number of excellent saves as Maldives FA Cup holders Maziya kicked-off their maiden AFC Cup campaign with a 1-1 away draw against Malaysian treble winners Kelantan at the Sultan Mohammad IV Stadium on Wednesday.

The Maldivian side absorbed a great deal of pressure before Hassan Adhuham gave them a surprise lead in the 62nd minute.

Chelsea’s stars Eden Hazard and Demba Ba will be coming to town for the first time! The Belgian and the Senegalese are poised to make their maiden trip to Kuala Lumpur as part of the English Premier League team’s 2013/2014 pre-season tour.

This will be ‘The Blues’ third visit to Kuala Lumpur since 2008 and the friendly match against a Malaysian Selection will be played on July 21 at the Shah Alam Stadium. Chelsea will also play matches in Thailand and Indonesia.

Step up efforts against match-fixing

KUALA LUMPUR: INTERPOL Secretary General Ronald K. Noble has urged the global football community to cooperate better and step up their efforts against match-fixing and corruption.

Addressing the delegates of the INTERPOL International Conference – Match-Fixing: The Ugly Side of the Beautiful Game on Thursday, Noble expressed concerns over the use of old laws and practices in countries.

Shahidan Suspended 30 Months, Fined RM39,000

PETALING JAYA, Feb 21 (Bernama) -- Perlis Football Association President DatukSeri Shahidan Kassim was handed a 30-month suspension and RM39,000 fine forcriticising the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM).Following the suspension, the former Perlis Menteri Besar will not be able to carryout his duties as the Perlis FA President or the FAM Finance Committee and Women's Football Committee until September 2015.
