Frenz United Malaysia finished the third spot in the group

The dream to see Frenz United Malaysia progressing to the last four of the Frenz International Cup (FIC) 2014 came to an end at the Frenz Stadium in Janda Baik despite registering a 2-0 win over Dalian Aerbin of China in their last Group A match.

Slovakian 1-0 win over Besiktas JK and SC Internacional 3-0 victory over Incheon United meant the Malaysian side could not overtake the two teams which will now play the champions and runners up of Group B on Thursday.

Frenz United Malaysia display in the first half was listless without any sense of urgency, as if they already resigned to the fact that they were going out of the competition.

Perhaps they were missing the running of diminitive midfielder, Kogileswaran Raj who was suspended for the match due collecting two yellow cards in previous matches.

The host may have the lead but that came from a deadball situation from which Dinesh Rajasinggam curled in wonderfully in the 23rd minutes.

Their display improved a little in the second half but as it was in previous matches Frenz United Malaysia just could not finish the many chances they created throughout the match.

Najmuddin Samat finally broke his duck at FIC 2014 when he slotted the ball past Aerbin goalkeeper, Dou Zhi Fu in the 55th minute to give the Frenz United Malaysia a 2-0 lead.

There were no futher goals and the match ended with a 2-0 scoreline in favour of the host who on a positive note finished the tournament with a win to claim the third spot in the group.
