Minister for Sports, Tourism & Equalities, Helen Grant Meets Assistant Secretary General of FAM for the British Council- Premier Skills Showcase 2014.

On 12th May 2014, Lazarus Jensen Xavier (left) the Assistant Secretary General of Football Association Malaysia (FAM) had the opportunity to meet with the Minister of Sport, Tourism and Equalities from the United Kingdom, Helen Grant.

The session highlighted British Council's community programme called “Premier Skills” which uses football as a tool to deal with common communal social issues. The project based on a highly successful community programme in the United Kingdom called Premier League. More information on the programme could be found here.

Lazarus observed that the programme is a fantastic grassroots tool that could be used to further develop not only football, but also the use of the English language, which would then allow individuals to develop their language skills. This in the long run would benefit the nation as a whole, as we would have more individual representing the country in the international arena.
