SMK Datuk Peter Mojuntin look to second round to improve fortunes

SMK Datuk Peter Mojuntin are looking to the second round to improve their fortunes in the Under-14 Ministry of Education League Cup (MELC) where after six matches, they are firmly rooted at the bottom of Group B.

And on Saturday, the debutants were served with another harsh lesson when they fell to a 4-0 loss to last year’s runners-up SMK Bukit Nenas of Terengganu for their sixth straight defeats.

Wan Jamak to coach Kedah

Wan Jamak Wan Hassan is now the Chief Coach of Kedah, replacing Ahmad Yusof. He signed the contract in Alor Setar, Saturday.

Kedah FA honorary secretary Datuk Dr Hamdan Mohamed Khalib said the appointment of Wan Jamak was done after discussions and consultation with the stake holders.

"We took into consideration the views of the fans, former Kedah players, media and other relevant officials. We appointed Wan Jamak based on his past achievements,” said Datuk Dr Hamdan.

Lotto sponsor referee’s attire

The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) Referees Committee received sponsorship of attire from Italian sportswear manufacturer Lotto at a ceremony in Sunway Pyramid, Thursday.

"This is our second year sponsoring the attire of FAM referees. The sponsorship worth RM100,000 is for three years," said Lotto product manager Frankie Ng.

AFC lantik tiga pegawai FAM

Tiga orang pegawai Persatuan Bolasepak Malaysia (FAM) telah dilantik untuk menganggotai beberapa jawatankuasa dalam Konfederasi Bolasepak Asia (AFC).

Naib Presiden FAM Dato’ Hamidin Mohd Amin dilantik sebagai ahli jawatankuasa Pertandingan AFC manakala Pengerusi Jawatankuasa Pengadil FAM, Dato’ Astaman Abdul Aziz pula dilantik sebagai ahli jawatankuasa Pengadil AFC.

SMK Putera Of Kelantan wins MUPC Qualifier

This year’s edition of the Manchester United Premier Cup (MUPC) tournament, supported by the Ministry of Education, got off to a roaring start with 37 teams from Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang competing in the East Zone Qualifiers in Kuantan over the weekend.

Kelantan’s SMK Putera beat SMK Sultan Sulaiman A of Terengganu 1-0 in the final. Both teams qualified for the National Finals, which will be held at Padang MSN, Bukit Jalil on May 21.

Four Wins On A Trot For Champs Smk Tunku Anum

Defending champions SMK Tunku Anum of Kedah recorded their fourth win on a trot when they beat SMK Mutiara Impian of Pulau Pinang 1-0 in the Under-14 Ministry of Education League Cup (MELC) over the weekend.

With the solitary goal of the game coming in the 12th minute off Mohamad Saiful Amiri Ismail, the slim victory has allowed SMK Tunku Anum to remain perched at the top of Group A with 12 points from four matches played.

Pre-World Cup: 24 players to be called up

National team Chief coach K.Rajagobal is expected to call-up 24 players for centralized training beginning 28 May as the team moves into the final phase of its preparations to face Chinese Taipei in the first round of Asian Zone 2014 World Cup Qualifiers in June.

The chief coach has been busy watching M-League matches, monitoring the national player’s performances and also identifying players who can be considered for national call-up.

SMK Bukit Nenas Bounce Back

Last year’s runners-up SMK Bukit Nenas of Terengganu put their campaign in the Minister of Education League Cup (MELC) back on track when they beat SMK Seberang Temerloh of Pahang 2-1, Sunday.

The east coast side had conceded a disappointing 2-1 loss to SMK Seri Titiwangsa the previous week - which was their first defeat of the new season.

But this time round SMK Bukit Nenas were a lot cagier at the back as they romped to a 2-0 lead at the half off goals from Muhammad Aqil Irfanuddin Mohd Sabri in the 22nd minute and Muhammad Syafiq Ismail 35th minute.

Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah is AFF President

His Royal Highness Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah is the new President of the Asean Football Federation (AFF) after he won the post uncontested during the regional body’s 18th Congress in Bangkok, Sunday.

The other nominee for the post, FA of Thailand President, Dato’ Worawi Makudi, who is also a FIFA Exco member, decided to withdraw from contesting the top post.

HRH Sultan Ahmad, a former AFC President and current President of the FA of Malaysia, replaces long-serving Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Tengku Ahmad Rithauddeen Al-Haj Tengku Ismail, who decided not to seek re-election this year.

Historic match for Liverpool fans

ENGLISH football giants Liverpool will play in Kuala Lumpur this summer.

The match will be a piece of football history as this is the first time Liverpool will be stepping on Malaysian soil and it is sure to create excitement as the Reds have a massive fan base in this country.
